Paul Reubens to Play Penguin’s Father in Gotham, Played the Role in ‘Batman Returns’

Robin Taylor revealed that Paul Reubens, best known as Pee Wee Herman, will be playing Oswald Cobblepot/ The Penguin’ father in the second season of Gotham.

Taylor expressed his enthusiasm at the New York Comic Con, in saying, “He will be showing up very soon. Pee-Wee Herman is playing my dad! What the hell? Oh my God!”

Of course, this should come as no surprise since Reubens has already played Tucker Cobblepot before in the 1992 movie, Batman Returns.

What this Monday’s episode will also have on offer is the introduction of Michael Chiklis playing the role of Captain Nathaniel Barnes. As described by Chiklis himself, his character will be a “countermeasure to the villainy in Gotham”.

In particular, he will be making an effort to resurrect the police department from their current state. In particular, this will be to mentor Jim Gordon who continues to slip down that slippery slope of the ends justify the means.

McKenzie himself admitted that he isn’t going anywhere good in this season given his affiliation with the Penguin.

What McKenzie also added is that each episode is building momentum from the last with new conflicts being set up for the weeks ahead.

Fans of the show have been finding it difficult to deal with the death of Cameron Monaghan’s character Jerome. Gotham producer added that they are considering how that storyline will develop but also added that “you haven’t seen the last of fellow”.

Gotham airs on Fox every Monday at 8 PM.
