Will Smith will make his directorial debut with a vampire biblical epic titled “The Redemption of Cain” as Sony Pictures Entertainment has given the project the green light to begin casting this month.

With Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment producing the film, shooting will begin in locations such as London, Jordan and Morocco in July 2013. Also, with Jada-Pinkett Smith’s brother, Caleeb Pinkett, writing its script, it seems as if this production will definitely be a family affair.

What makes this film different from most biblical epics is the fact that it will feature vampires similar to movie releases such as Abraham Lincoln – Vampire Hunter as well as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

But that’s not all – Will Smith might not only direct the movie but also play the part of Cain in the movie although this isn’t confirmed yet. What is for sure, however, is that this project means a lot to the actor-cum-rapper and has been in development for a few years now.

Also, it is reported that Francine Maisler has been picked as the casting director for the project and is due to cast the film in the coming weeks.

For those who do not know the story of Cain and Abel, it is a story of sibling rivalry where Cain, the elder of the two, kills his brother Abel.

The movie, in being given the official go-ahead, will join other work such as Warner Brothers’ ‘Gods and Kings’, Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ and Ridley Scott’s ‘Moses’ which are being filmed as well.

In addition to this, Will Smith is also starring in upcoming movies such as “I,Robot 2”, “Bad Boys 3” and “Hancock 2”.
