What Singer-Songwriters Practice meditation?

Rock and roll are synonymous with stress and addictions and these singers and songwriters have found that meditation has helped them to be more accepting of themselves and gives them permission to be happy and relieve their anxieties and stress.

Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen, singer-songwriter started meditation in the 1970s 10 years after his hit “Hallelujah” Leonard entered a Zen retreat outside of LA and stayed there for 5 years in the process of becoming a Buddhist monk. Likemany celebrities and regular people, he experimented with drugs, women, and alcohol yet the answers he was looking for eluded him until he started meditation. Leonard says “When you stop thinking about yourself all the time, a certain sense of repose overtakes you. It happened to me by imperceptible degrees, and I could not really believe it,”

Sting

Sting, this rock legend from the 80’s band The Police has been using meditation to keep mentally and physically fit and energized since 1990. He practices yoga as meditation with his wife daily. Sting says “Like music, yoga is a journey—one that is long enough so you keep developing and keep learning. I don’t see an end to it,”  

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga this singer has leaned on meditation to help her balance her career and very busy schedule. She meditates daily and is said it keeps her focused and relaxed. She suffers from PTSD and advocates that meditation has the power which heals, and she recommends it to her followers on Instagram.
