Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Why Skye’s Character Is The Strongest on Television

While she might have started as a simple hacker on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Skye, played by Chloe Bennet, has become one of the strongest characters on the show.

Of course, every television show has strong female characters. However, they all have one weakness that is rather predictable: love.

Whether it is Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Halliwell Sisters in Charmed and Gabrielle in Xena: Warrior Princess have all failed the emotional test and which caused the deaths of many innocents.

Skye, quite differently, is both physically and emotionally strong where her training as an agent combined with her Quake powers make her almost unbeatable. However, when it comes to emotional strength, she has the courage to make tough decisions especially when it comes to love and family.

Firstly, the crush that she had on Ward was ignored when she discovered that he was a part of Hydra and ultimately, even shot him 4 times when HYDRA clashed with S.H.I.E.L.D later on.

As for her father, she was not influenced by him to turn against Coulson but still gave him a chance to explain his side of the story.

In the Season 2 finale, she had a choice to make between the Inhumans and S.H.I.E.L.D but she didn’t take her mom’s word for it but she checked Raina’s side of the story and made the right choice in the end even if it meant killing her parents as a result.

For that matter, even the other female characters in S.H.I.E.L.D weren’t this strong. That said, it will be wonderful if the show continues to build on Skye’s character in the same fashion.
