It was not long ago in December that Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, in The Walking Dead said that the television series has really tested his range of emotions as an actor. In addition, he had also mentioned that he was very happy with episodes 9 and 10 that wasn’t aired just yet.
After these episodes were aired, he reveals why he felt emotional, in another interview with Entertainment Weekly, in saying, “When I read it, it reminded me of something that happened in my life when I spoke to someone in a fight. It almost had the same speech, so it resonated on a really, really profoundly, deep, familial level. I remember when I read it, I just cried.”
During this interview, Lincoln also said that he is a fan of Cormac McCarthy whose novel, The Road, was one he read when preparing for his role in The Walking Dead.
In talking about the book, he said that, to him, the “simplicity, directness and a poetry” stood out – something that he hoped would also be captured in episode 10 of The Walking Dead.
That said, and at the end of the last episode, fans were introduced to Aaron, played by Ross Marquand, who is actually a recruiter for the Alexandria Safe Zone community.
So far, it’s uncertain as to how big a role Aaron will play the television series but this could create a new story arc involving the arrival of the Saviors that comics fans have been waiting to see adapted.
